Isla Mujeres Hotels in North Beach: Playa Norte’s Best Hotel
We review our top choices and reveal our favorite hotel near North Beach in 2022.
By David Araya | Updated January 24, 2023Famous for its beautiful tropical setting, clear sky-blue waters, and friendly locals, Isla Mujeres’ beaches are beautiful vacation destinations. And the beach that attracts so many tourists’ attention is North Beach.
Isla Mujeres’ north beach (or Playa Norte) has no shortage of premier and elite hotels. There are several lodgings to fit different styles and budgets. Here are my reviews for the hotels you will find in Playa Norte in Isla Mujeres:
1. Hotel Secreto
Website: https://www.hotelsecreto.com/
Price: The average price of one night in the Hotel Secreto is $144.
Hotel Secreto is a 10-minute distance from Playa Norte. The hotel’s interior design doesn’t shy away from the lush combination of colors and bold message of Mexican Impressionism.
Each room has an iPod dock, plasma TV, and balcony. The hotel has a free WiFi connection and a full-service spa. After a long, hard day, you can relax with a nice meal at the bars and restaurants on Hidalgo Avenue next to the hotel.

Cons:
2. Izla Hotel
Website: https://www.izlahotel.com/
Price
- A night at a deluxe room with an ocean view in Izla hotel costs $174 for two double beds/a king bed.
- A night at a superior king room with an ocean view costs $227.
Izla Hotel should be your pick if you are looking for a chic, fancy hotel. It is located on the beachfront. Hence, you can take in Playa Norte’s beauty from your room.
The hotel also utilizes minimalist interior decor.
There are many enclosed terraces and balconies, each with an ocean view. The hotel features include two swimming pools, a fitness center, event space for ceremonies, and a full-service spa.
The hotel also has two restaurants.
Pros:
Cons:
3. Hotel Bahia Chac Chi
Website: https://www.bahiachacchi.com/
Price
- A night at the hotel Bahia Chac Chi costs $74 for a Deluxe king room.
- A night in a deluxe bay view with a king bed costs $92.
Hotel Bahia Chac Chi is a clean, contemporary spot fancied mostly by young couples. The hotel works on an open-air concept; hence it doesn’t have to be air-conditioned.
Although the pool and lobby look contemporary, the rest of the hotel, including the rooms, look simple. It is not for those who fancy luxury.
The hotel Bahia Chac Chi is well known for its closeness to the ferry and ocean view.
Pros:
Cons:
4. Bucaneros Hotel & Suites
Facebook: https://m.facebook.com/bucaneroshotel/
Price: A night in a double bed or a king bed at Bucaneros Hotel and Suites costs $93.59.
Hotel Bucaneros is less than a 10-minute walk from Playa Norte (North Beach.) The hotel is parked in between several shops and restaurants.
The rooms are nicely decorated. All rooms have an air conditioner, fans, mini-fridges, and flat-screen TVs.
Pros:
Cons:
5. Ixchel Beach Hotel
Website: https://www.ixchelbeachhotel.com/
Price: A standard room with free cancellation in Ixchel Beach Hotel costs $136.
Ixchel Beach Hotel is located on the sands of North Beach. It is a perfect spot for families and couples that want to spend time together on Playa Norte.
The hotel is clean and guarantees comfort. However, it has little interior decor, so it seems bland.
It has a small gym, spa, and two pools. Ixchel Beach Hotel is also close to the ferry port.
Pros:
Cons:
6. Na Balam Beach Hotel
Website: https://www.nabalam.com/
Price: A night in a standard Na Balam Beach Hotel room costs $154.
Na Balam Beach Hotel is an idyllic beachfront hotel. The rooms are simple and have a private patio or balcony.
The hotel’s open restaurant permits a broader and better view of the Playa Norte beach sands and water. Plus, you have access to free WiFi and Continental breakfast.
Pros:
Cons:
Conclusion
Isla Mujeres is an oasis of several picturesque beaches and, as such, has garnered a lot of admirers. One of the beaches I loved the most is North Beach (Playa Norte.)
There are several lodging options, but those mentioned above are some you can always refer to.
Check their websites via the link provided to ensure you can lodge and make a reservation, as all rooms can be sold out when you arrive.
Enjoy a fun time with nature at North Beach!
